This week, nine Crowley UMW members gathered to prepare sack lunches that will be available to Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo workers who come from homeless shelters. The workers earn about $48 per day cleaning restrooms, sweeping, gathering garbage and doing other tasks. The cost of a simple meal at the stock show can run $10 - $12. That is 1/4th of their daily eanings.

Last year nearly 20 churches volunteered to make 4950 lunches that were given free of charge to the homeless. The meals include a protein such as Vienna sausages or tuna plus fruit cups, peanut butter crackers, fruit roll ups, cookies and juice boxes.

The Crowley ladies enjoyed the time the spent preparing the sack lunches. It was a mission that is dear to their hearts as several spend the three week run working along side the homeless staff.
