Community Outreach

Ione Community United Methodist Church has been able to provide dinners  for the Star Readers Program.  This program tutors children grades 1-3 in our local elementary school.  A "Family Night" is held in our church every other month and we have been able to provide a dinner for the several families in the program.  This month we had 40 adults and children in attendance.  It has been a rewarding experience to be activily participating in these families' lives.

The 4th Saturday Cafe, which is ongoing, provides a center for coffee and conversation between  9:30 and 11:30 A,M.   This is open to all in the community and we have had an interesting mix of attendees.   Some come on a regular basis and we have had several new drop ins.

We believe both of these events provide an opportunity for the community to aquaint themselves with our pastors, members and church facilities.
