Church is growing!

Praise Jesus! God has been moving in our congregation. We have seen in increase of numbers in our church over the last several months. We have seen new people attend our church (attend reguarly). We also have been seeing children start to come regularly to our service!

One thing that we have been emphasizing is lay members inviting people to church by making personal connections/relationships with people in the community. For example, several congregants have visited individuals within the community (usually they have a working relationship with them) and they invited the people to come to church. Other things that I tried is changing the way I do sermons. I have made the sermons more interactive. For example, the beginning of the sermons I do a quick review of last week's sermon and ask the congregation questions and they respond. I also get them to get out their Bibles and have them follow along with the scripture texts (plus I will engage with the congregants throughout the sermon). The lay members seem to really get something out of the sermons through this method and it keeps them engaged. Also, we have started emphasize more hands on missions and we celebrate the small accomplishments, helping them to realize that through the help of the Holy Spirit they can make a difference in the surrounding community.
