We’d like to share our thoughts on and express our gratitude for Elizabeth’s teachers in the Bumblebee classroom. We feel so fortunate that Elizabeth’s first experience away from home and, due to Covid, her first experience with more than a passing exposure to other humans was with Lucy, Celeste, and Lori. They eased her into life at St. Luke’s so lovingly and provided such a warm, nurturing, and safe environment throughout her Bumblebee months that the transition for Elizabeth and for us was not just painless but rather was joyous. Communication was always excellent, both in person and in the glimpses of classroom life and learnings Lucy and Celeste shared via Seesaw. We were impressed by the creativity, energy, and organization that they invested in their curriculum. Surely Elizabeth’s teachers had a bad or frustrating day now and then but we never detected a hint of it in their words or demeanor. They’ve also been very helpful in smoothing out some of the rough spots in Elizabeth’s bee-to-butterfly metamorphosis, using that term loosely ??. As we’ve expressed to them, Elizabeth will surely have other excellent teachers in her lifetime but she’ll never have more important teachers. Lucy, Celeste, and Lori taught Elizabeth how to be in the world outside her home and, most importantly, that she can trust other adults to treat her with love and kindness.

We would like to add a very big thank you to you and all of the other leaders, administrative staff, faculty, and the board of St. Luke’s Child Development Center for maintaining such a great childcare setting, especially under the very challenging circumstances that have existed for the past year. We look forward to working with Ms. Jodi and all the other excellent St. Luke’s CDC teachers in Elizabeth’s future.

Gratefully,

Brandyn and Robin (Grandma) Keithley
