Blessings and Butterflies

We were able to gather funds for a total of 20 UMCOR buckets for the hurricane relief efforts in Texas and Florida! 

This past Sunday we celebrated our Butterfly Club season finale with a special all-church field trip to Wichita Botanica for the Festival of the Monarchs. We were able to release 28 Monarchs this summer to support the migration, and 19 of those are tagged so that Monarch Watch will know they came from Bethany when they're recovered in Mexico! This has been an incredibly successful summer outreach program; community interest spiked after we released 8 Monarchs at our Block Party in August, and the whole project has stirred new energy among the congregation. Our kiddos have learned so much about how these beautiful flying prayers live and change, and we were even able to share the joy and wonder with a local elementary school! Our secretary was able to go speak about Monarchs and milkweed at White Elementary in south Wichita, and their class has now raised, tagged, and released a Monarch as well. We thank God for this opportunity to network in our community. 

Our Comforters Sewing Group added several new members this week as the Bethel Life sewing group merged with Bethany's. These ladies are such a blessing to our community and we're grateful to have them!
