On the week of May 13, The Mommy Shoppe held their first Open House for the people who have been using their services. Over 150 people attended. We handed out hot dogs, cookies, chips, water and lemonade and had a coloring contest for the children. One of the things that has been happening over the years, is that the distribution of clothing is secondary to the meeting of needs and sharing of stories that the people who come bring. it's not unusual to see young mothers reaching out to other moms who are there and supportig one another with advice on things to do with their children, how to make ends meet, or to just be there for each other. Often, you'll hear mom's check in on things from previous weeks with other moms that come who they probably don't see in between. It is another kind of church; one where people feel comfortable bearing their souls and, sometimes, asking questions about God.

On June 3, a group began to form to read the book Weird Church, by Paul Nixon and Beth Ann Estook. This group comes from as far away as Murfeesboro, TN and Booth Bay, ME and from various places in PA. Some are people who are part of a church and some are not. We will be meeting on-line to discuss what we are learning and to go through the study guide that comes with the book. This is a very small part of building our church on-line to reach people who, for a variety of reasons, do not attend church as well as integrate people who do to support and guide those who don't.
