Our small church is served by a lay minister. We have had to ask pastors to come to serve communion, which they have done when asked. A pastor in our circuit recently retired and offered to serve communion. He and his wife enjoy coming once a month and our church loves having them. It is an occasion for a special lunch, we enjoy his preaching, we receive communion regularly, and our attendance is up on the days he comes. It is a happy arrangement for all. He also sets his next date while he is here, so we can know when he is coming and plan for it.
