Vital!

We had a wonderful administrative council meeting wherein I talked about annual conference and the four main sessions related to vitality. I encouraged the group to think of ways to support hungry children more in our community and they are hoping to be a part of or start a backpack program at Alpena, which is a very poor school district.

In addition, when I talked with them about discipleship, I presented an idea to get internet for the church and start an online small group that would be centered on accountability and life application Bible study. (For some background on this, we have a Bible study outside of Sunday school, but it meets on a weekday afternoon, when most of our younger congregants can't attend because of work obligations. Moreover, I live 75 miles away, so leading a small group during the week in person is not feasible). We had a younger member voice how excited she was about being able to be a part of an online group and she completely sold the idea without me really having to say much! The spirit was working among us for sure. We had a national company donate six laptops for those who don't own computers and will have some of the small group meet at the church for those who don't have internet.

Finally, I've been preaching on spiritual gifts and the congregation was excited to learn about them--I'm providing a spiritual gifts inventory for whoever would like one in the coming weeks. Many people have mentioned how they didn't really understand what a spiritual gift was and that they wanted to understand theirs better. It was a great Sunday.
