On Good Friday we hosted "The Chalk Man," Randy Davis, from Ottumwa, Iowa. He tours the country as a mission. He has several ready-made sermons with applicable life-lessons. He then draws a beautiful chalk drawing while hymns are playing in the background (you can sing along, but the particular hymns he picked were not familiar to our congregation). After the drawing is finished, he makes some closing remarks and gives a little description about the inspiration for the drawing - applicable to his lesson. Then, he turns on a black light and reveals a hidden picture for extra inspiration. Learn more about him at www.chalkartist.com.
On Easter morning we had a wonderful Sunrise Service with breakfast following. This is an integral part of Ebenezer UMC's tradition. Many people from other churches in our parish, as well as the surrounding communities attend. There was a light snow throughout the service, which made it seem more like Christmas, but it didn't stop 60 parishoners & community members from coming to celebrate the "Son" Rise!
