Hearing from God

We did a listening to God exercise during worship.  I said a short prayer, asking the Holy Spirit to speak a word or two to each one of us...something that He has for us in our Christian Walk.  The congregation was reverant during this exercise.  It was a holy moment.  I asked who had a word, and several people raised their hands.  Some shared with the others.  After church, an 8 year old boy came up to me and shared that he heard a word from the Lord.  I asked him what it was, and he said "Become".  I told him that the Lord is telling him that he will Become a mighty child and man of God.  His Granny got a word that went along with his.  Some of the other family members shared their word.  Some got the word "Service". Another got "Mission".  One got "Listen".  One got "Teach".

This time of Listening was so special that I think we will do it often during prayer time.  OnTuesday, a lady from church contacted me to share that she finally got her Word.  It was "Confidence".  She then heard a new song on the radio about our confidence being in the Lord, that we must release Control to Jesus.  She said she began to weep and weep before the Lord.  She said she is more clear headed than she has been in a long time.  She knows that the Holy Spirit touched her.  Her husband also received a new job and promotion that we have been asking for.

I'm thankful that the Lord is hearing us and speaking to us.  I am convinced that I must help my congregation learn to hear from God for themselves, rather than always relying on me to hear for them.  Praising God for His Faithfulness!
