Memorial service

In our small, rural community, people often move away or die relatively young. A memorial service is a time when people return home from scattered corners. Yesterday our church was filled for such an occasion. Our church walls contain a church that is usually invisible, with the spirits of so many who have come before. Yesterday our church was made flesh, filled with people who had returned from all corners to celebrate the life of one they had lost. It is always a joy and blessing to host such a gathering, and the family is so appreciative of our hospitality and the worship and celebration space available for their use. Yesterday, they were the church, just for one day.
