New Town UMC hosted a Missions Weekend April 19th - 21st. The weekend was kicked off with a Worship and Prayer Service on Friday evening with Evangelist Greg West. We began Saturday morning with gathering prayer, and 80 volunteers split up into teams to work on the following projects: Grove Christian Outreach Center - helped move into a new facility, Envoy Nursing Home - cleanup of patio and deck area for residents, prepared, bagged and delivered 77 lunches for the homeless living in local motel, Prayer Walk through the campus of William and Mary, Prayer Walk through the community of New Town, Roadside cleanup, planted a community garden on church property, and cut, knotted and bagged 5,300 potato bags for the potato drop for Annual Conference. We ended the weekend on Sunday with a special message on missions and a love offering to support trips to Paraguay, Trinidad, Cuba, and Appalachia Service Project which totaled $5,316.49.
