Missions

The Kids Summer Food Program concluded this week as we currently have an opening date in August for Public Schools to reopen.  Each day we served approximately 100 kids.

The UMW's Budget Shop reopened.  They developed a counting system that ensures only 10 people are in the store at any time  Sales have been good.  Shoppers appreciated the opportunity to get out for a short period of time.

We have had two more free food distributions, chicken for one, and fruits and vegetables for the second distribution.  These activities are well received by the community.  There is never any problem in being able to distribute all the food.

In preparation for the start of school, Garfield UMC and Larned UMC each prepared 24 tote bags (grade-specific) of school items.  The parents picked up bags and were treated to cookies and juice

Thanks to Pastor Trish we are having a mini VBS.  Hero Power is the theme with an emphasis on courage, obedience, prayer, and trusting God.  Pastor wrote a skit for each lesson that allows the kids to participate.  The sessions are only for an hour.  In addition to the lesson, they have craft time and game time. Snacks are sent home with the kids.  The numbers are small, the joy is huge.
