Mt Olivet - Southeastern - Holston - Hiwassee (Holston)

We had a record number of people in the congregation this week!  It was double the amount of people that were there compared to my first Sunday.   I had invited two talented musicians from another church of mine to come do some songs. We had guests come that had never been there before and some people came to support the singers who were from their church.  Attendance was high but the Holy Spirit was soaring higher in that congregation!

The county fair is coming up in September and I came up with an idea to hand out $5 gift cards to adults and have them take a minute to share their story with me and the volunteers.  I look at this as an opportunity to extend the love of  God to all by making them take a minute out to introduce themself and share what is on their heart.  I wanted to attract people to our booth and hand out Christian toys to the kids but also touch base with the adults and teens.  Sometimes being a listening ear is all people need, and I want them to see that the churches in our area are there for them.  Anyway, Mt. Olivet saw in to my vison.  I set a goal of 100 gift cards for all 3 churches. I expected the the parishoners would buy 10 but Mt. Olivet, despite their size, stepped up to the plate and said they were going to purchase 100 gift cards and challenged the other 2 churches to do the same.  Praise God!  It's not the size of the church that counts.  It's the size of the heart and the openess to the Holy Spirit that makes a difference.
