Our Youth Group, directors, and pastors went into the local community with large baskets of cookies packaged in bags with a gift tag that went across the top. The gift tag shared our deep appreciation to those in service to our community. We went to two cities to firehouses, newspapers, hospitals, police departments, gospel stores, etc., and thanked the people for their work. Some people stiopped and talked. The police officer gave the youth a tour and let us take pictures. The local hospital gathered the youth and took them to different floors. The lady at the Christian Bookstore cried and hugged us and said how nice after all the years she has been in business to get a sign of appreciation.
We wore our youth t-shirts, and handed out 240 cookies. We will do this again in August - bake more cookies and let God lead us where we might be able to bless the people of our community. Now, people want the gift tags to put on bags of cookies they want to hand out to waitresses, drive thru workers, etc. It is amzing how one idea can grow with God's help.
