The week of July 5, Newton Grace played host for its annual Honey Do mission, which sends out workers, adults and youth, into the community to perform home repair and construction for families in need. Projects include siding, painting, deck building and yard cleanup.Virtually all the local churches are involved, as well as independent churches from Effingham who send workers down to our community. Even youth from the Chicago suburbs come down for the five days. Three meals a day are provided for the workers by various churches. Members of the community who are recipients of this ministry are also invited to join us for meals. Much of the out reach includes extended conversation with the residents in their homes as well. I estimate that the number of workers was about 75.
