A few years ago Gentry May of Vassar UMC began a mission with Smile Train, an international organization which makes possible surgeries for children around the world affected by cleft lip/palate. We have a large jar for anyone to drop money into sitting prominently in the entry way and posters up for people to see what the mission is all about. This month we sent another check for $250 to Smile Train, which is the amount needed to fund one surgery. Since the beginning, Gentry thinks that we have funded about 8 surgeries so far. We also have a good start on the next check to fund another surgery. As a new pastor, I'm thrilled to see the congregation engaged in such a meaningful way. The Smile Train website is linked below:
