Leader Publishing Company Food Fight breaks records wiith 34,000 items

Records were broken in this year's Leader Publishing Company's annual Food Fight.  This year there were 21 organizatnois that participated, that's up from 12 lst year. Last year during the month of February 13,717 items were collected for the Washington County Food Bank. This year more than 34,516 items were collected. That's right. You read it correctly.

Top 10 Finalists for the LPC 2017 Food Fight are:

•  6,726 - Blue River Wood Products
•  6,025 - NetShape Technologies
•  2,552 - GKN
•  2,476 - John Jones Auto Group
•  1,896 - Curves for Women
•  1,822 - Canton United Methodist
•     583 - Mt. Hebron Church
•     545 - The Salem Leader
•     367 - Angie Wilson, Queen of Taxes

It was fun to see all the church members bring in items each week in response to the youth's skits and infomercials they prepared.  A fun time was had by all.  Even though we did not finish in the top three like we did in 2016, the number of total items was almost tripled from last year.  Ultimately the winner is the Washington County Food Bank.  Weekly themes for Canton UMC this year included:  

• Feb  5 -  Cans for Canton Kids - can goods
• Feb 12 - Canton Kids Clean Up - cleaning supplies
• Feb 19 - Canton Kids Care - toiletry items
• Feb 26 - Breakfast for Billy - cereal & breakfast items in memory of Billy Wade
