Modulations for Church Music

For some hymns and other congregational songs, perhaps with four verses, I sometimes modulate between the third and four verses. Moving to a higher key many encourage more energetic singing as the last verse begins. The ability to move from one key to another smoothly and convincingly may be one of the church musician’s highly valued skills.
