On Saturday, May 6th, the church held a father-daughter dance for members of the Atlantic City Community. It was an awesome site to see so many fathers and daughters dancing together. The night was filled with fun, laughter, food, and fellowship.
On Saturday, May 6th, Welcome Holy Spirit Pentecostal Church, a church that we share worship and community center space with, members of the church are on our board of trustees, and are our partners in mission, hosted the weekly feeding ministry serving nearly 300 people.
On Saturday, May 6th, representatives from the church participated in a Black Lives Matter March in the community. A healing vigil and march was planned by Rev. Williams and members of the BLM movement to show support for the widow of Marshall Zamor, who died in the custody of NJ State Police, and demand from the attorney general video of the holding cell in which Mr. Zamor died.
On Saturday, May 6th. We started our first CISCO Networking Academy (CNA) Course. We taught senior citizens how to create username and passcodes for the CNA modules, search their e-mail accounts, and went through the basic CNA module, getting started, learning the computer. This is a 6 week course taught by one of our certified lay servants. This course serves as a foundational platform course to a larger curriculum that will prepare successful graduates for jobs in Information Technology/Network Security.
On Wednesday, May 3rd, Rev. Williams consecrated a new home bible study group in an apartment complex. The manager of the complex asked a member of the church to start a bible study in his home for members of the apartment complex. Rev. Williams went by the home, blessed the home, appointed the church member, who is also a certified lay servant and registered chaplin, as class leader using the UMC BOW liturgy.
On Sunday, April 30th, Lay Servant Jamila Bruce preached the sermon on not forsaking wisdom. After church, we held a special session of church conference in which we voted two new members onto the board of trustees and gave a fairwell blessing to two other church members who can no longer service because of illness and moved out of state to be with his family after his wife died.
