The congregation and I were blessed by six children from our Sunday School.  They had been practicing for the Christmas Story in play form.  They did not have much time to learn parts, so the director created a folder for them to read their lines.  As a result, we were all surprised how well everything went.  I was especially blessed when I looked over the sanctuary and found nearly every seat filled to capacity.  There were at least 38 people, young and old present to see these six children  perform the story of the birth of Christ.  Then when there was the moment in the service when folks were able to greet one another.  People rose up and  shook hands, grabbed one another and hugged.  It was as if they had not seen one another in a very long time.  I came to this church in July.  The most we usually have is 15 or 19.  The number present was amazing, and one member mentioned how amazing it was that it was the children that brought them out to church.

Whatever the reason, I believe God was present with us, and He was delighted at the children's performance.  Everyone was invited to return for Christmas Eve services.   I covet your prayers that the same people will want to come again.
