A real Charge

RAYMONDVILLE - South Central - Missouri - Southeast (MO)

Having served a total of 3-2-0oint acharges now, I must say there is something very different and very refreshing about this charge. It is a new 2-point charge that canme about during the pastoral transition in 2020. The original charges had been Houston/Cabool and Raymondville was its own charge (from my understanding). The new charge I arrived at was a realignment that included Houston UMC and Raymondville UMC. Often both churches do not want to be a part of the other but in this case both came together to make it better. Since then both are consistently operating together in misdsions, smaall group studies, and special service opportunities (i.e., Christmas Eve, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, etc.). Neither sees itself as the "larger church (although Houstin is significantly larger in size via space occupancy). Typically Raymondville will average about 22 a week and has no Sunday School as it has no regular children or youth in attendance..Houston also has a minimal amount of children and youth and yet maintaains a regular Sunday School (likely due more to time avsailability than anything else). Both congregations have some very similar views and I have found them to be in agreement for most thingss, It is, in my opinion, one of the best, if not the best, 2-point rural charge that canbe found. Yes, neither church has alot of money, buut they truly do recognize they can do more together thsaan they can apart.
