Parent Cafe' at Local Middle School

This week Hollydale UMC is part of a community group that is trying something new.  We are helping to facilitiate a Parent Cafe for Smitha Middle School parents to come together and discuss family issues.  Our hope is that these cafe's provide an opportunity for parents to come to a safe environment, discuss family topics and gain skills that they can take back to their families.  The perception for quite some time is that Smitha is a "troubled" school with lots of issues; many parents try to have their kids moved to schools that are perceived to be "better" schools.  We want to be a part of helping to change that perception and help strengthen the families in our community.  The first session on April 10th is on healthy communication.  We are working with other church leaders and school administration to make this happen.
