St. Luke has shown that we have the heart and attitude to continue building upon a congregation of all people. We now have a good representation of the Afro-American community sitting in the pews every Sunday worship. We are experiencing children of different walks of life in our children and youth programs. Our presence has become an important factor in Dollarway and Pine Bluff by offering a christian attitude to all people. Our partnership with Central Baptist, a Souther Baptist church approximately 8 blocks from our location, is a wonderful living example of these two churches breaking down the walls that have kept us separated for many years. There is no prosiliting from either group. We work together harmoniously, as though we had been a family for 100 years. We had the facilities and they bring part of the leadership to our "Blast" program on Sunday evenings. The children come from wealthy families and poor families. There seems to be no difference in their attitude while participating and sharing in the function of our program. Our congregation is beginning to reveal the results of our openness and loving spirit. I believe that God has brought us together to serve those without food and sustenance for maintaining a normal life. We share our wealth of ability, food, support, teaching and spirit with everyonew that enters our doors. As a result, we have become familiar with stable families that were unchurched, as well as those struggling to survive. We assist with utilities, food and the necessary sustenance to support life, as God intended!! Our greatest prayer is: May the Holy Spirit continue to lead St. Luke and Central Baptist to continue this effort as long as we survive in this community.
