Providing for education

Havana United Methodist Church encourages it's students to continue their education past high school. This Sunday, we awarded six one-thousand dollar scholarships to loal students. This is such a wonderful project. Funds are raised throughout the year, and sholarships are awarded in May so that summer students could use them for those terms. Students who maintain a 2.5 GPA and a minimum of 12 hours of courses can reapply for the scholarship for four years. We had one student this year graduate with a Bachelor's of Sience from Arkansas Tech University who had received the sholarship each year he was there. This is the second year that we have awarded $6000 in scholarships.
