A few months ago I put out a call to other UMC's to collect dresses for the girls in the orphanages in the Bahamas and the impoverished Haitian girls living in what are basically refugee camps. the girls need dresses to be able to go to church and participate in community life. So far the following churches have contributed: Trinity UMC Denver, Hope UMC, Ogden First, Berkeley UMC, Eagle Valley UMC, Good Shepherd Thornton, Limon UMC, Cortez FUMC, Bethany UMC Denver, Yuma UMC, Haxtun UMC, Highlands UMC, St. Andrew Denver and at least a dozen others that dropped off dresses anonymously. Our little church never could have provided for this need, but if we work together, we can change lives in meaningful ways. Thank you all!
Afew months ago St. Paul’s got a huge donation of personal care items from the Silvertree Hotel and are distributing them. So far, we have given items to: AfterHours Denver, our Sunday Meal Program, Golden Food Bank, DenUM, Father Dyer UMC Sunday Dinner, East Denver FISH, Project CURE, JeffCo Action Center, CHARG Resource Center, 10:30 Catholic Center Women's Program, Alternative to Family Violence of Adams County, St. Francis Center, Deaf DOVE, Project Family, FUMC Boulder’s HeartFelt Café and Denver Inner City Parish. We had 6,000 pounds of soap, shampoo, etc. and still have more to give away. The resources are out there, we just have to find them.
