Confirmation Retreat

We held a charge-wide confirmation retreat on June 8-10. Nine youth attended, ranging in age from 9 to 17.  The retreat was held on Friday from 2:00 - 9:00PM, Saturday from 8:00AM - 9:00 PM and Sunday from 8:30 PM through the closing celebration with a charge-wide covered dish dinner.  We used the Credo confirmation curriculum published by Cokesbury and covered all 8 sessions on Friday and Saturday.  It was a HUGE success.  The youth learned who we are and what we believe as Christians, who we are and what we believe as United Methodists and how we apply all of that in our everyday lives.  They also prepared an illustrated sermon/human video, which was presented in lieu of a sermon on Sunday morning.  During the Sunday service the youth served in all capacities.  5 were baptized and confirmed, 4 had already been baptized and were confirmed.  I consecrated the communion elements and served the youth and then, as their first act of service as memebers of the body, they served the congregation.  It was a beautiful and meaningful experience.
