God has helped us hire a new part time Director of Music Ministry. Praise God! She has a wonderful sense of ministry and hopes to help the congregation experience God's presence in practice and worship. She plans to help the congregation make a transition to their traditional worship to a worship which include contemporary music. She has plans for change to help the quality of music in worship and engage more people in music minstry.
A couple in our church (new members) have begun a new ministry called Christian Curb Cleaners. They go into neighborhoods where street cleaners do not go and they sweep the street next to the curbs and shovel the dirt into a truck. Then thy take the dirt to the alley and fill the holes. As they are cleaning the street they encounter inquisitive people who ask what they are doing and they say they are Christian Crub Cleaners and they want to help the neighborhood by cleaning next to the curbs. If the neighbors engage them, they witness to their faith in Jesus Christ.
Vesta Ryan is a 81 yr. old woman in our congregation is going on a mission trip to Africa in September. She has always wanted to be a missionary but postponed that calling to be married and raise her children. This is a dream come true for her and an opportunity for our congregation to support her and global ministries. Two of our members are going to Taylor's City Council meeting asking Taylor to declare a day as "Vesta Ryan" day, supporting those who are older to help others and Vesta being a role model for others. Also, there will be a yard sale at the City Park; proceeds wll go toward Vesta's missionary trip. Vesta will be in a group of people going to Africa sharing their different skills to help those in need. Vesta will teach sewing to help the people make clothes for themselves and to sell to others.
