Care Groups

We have had a care group system since mid-2008.  Our local and area families were placed into 12 care groups of about 8-10 households each.  Care groups gather as they seem comfortable doing--some prepare boxes to be sent for Operation Christmas Child, some have picnics, others have wiener roasts, etc.  Each care group tries to help others in its group during times of illness, stress, bereavement.  Each care group hosts one monthly fellowship coffee during the year and each care group prepares light food/snacks for the youth group for a month.  Needs of church family were met by "hit and miss" previously--some very active church members were flooded with food, etc, in the time of need and others were left out when they had needs.  With the care group system a care group can "screen" what a needing family might need when others ask to assist.  As with all change, there are a very few who do not  like the care care system because they feel like they are being told who their friends should be--they simply do not grasp the feeling that the church is a church family needing each other.
