Missions, Community & Youth Involvment

8/2/2012 views(258)

We are seeing growing success [in the nature of blessings] from continuing to engage the community by way of southern gospel music sings [Blackwood Bros Quarter, Red Roots Trio, Chuck Wagon Gang] linked with mission fundraiser dinners.  Our small community is takinng note of our church & our people are excited about doing more than just attending on Sunday morning @ 11am  [Well, perhaps not everybody, but a strong contingent!] . This also enables us to participate in "beyond the walls" global missions we otherwise could not be a part of.   We are promoting heavily through local media by submitting info in the dressing of "News Release" & the local media are using it!  We also rely on the Mississippi Conference enewsletter "Circuit Rider" & the Meridian District eblast as well as Facebook.

Our youth ministry has grown over the last year from 0 [as in "zero" youth & "we don't know any youth"] to an average of 12-15, as many as 22 on Wednesday nights!  The youth have requested to meet also on Sunday late afternoons so we are now offering that as well.  The youth [we call them "TEENation" ... we call our little ones "TeeNation"] conceived, planned, prepared & conducted the entire regular 11am morning worship service last Sunday, July 29, from start to finish, had a dramatic skit, projected lyrics & readings on the wall, a message/sermonette, the whole service.  It touched the people's hearts!  They appear to have accepted the future of this church had no young people in it.  That has changed.  Feeding the young people, even lightly, helps.  Having people who really care about the young people and will put their arm around and look them in the eye, is essential.

We are very active on Facebook.  Costs nothing but time.  The Facebook outreach ministry is about a year old and we are now seeing, regularly, weeks with more than 2000 Facebook "looks" of our postings.  That is per WEEK.  Posts of pictures of the church folk doing things really boosts the number of "looks".

We rely on the leading, guiding and enabling of the Holy Spirit ... without Him, we could do nothing of any consequence.
