We are currently engaged in a class based on Bill Hybel's book, "Just Walk Across the Room" which teaches Christians how to share their faith naturally with those around them. We have ten people in attendance and the class is generating much discussion and reflection on sharing our faith more effectively. This class is a partial fulfillment of one of our SCI prescriptions to train congregation members in ways to more effectively share their faith Following Easter, we will be engaging in a twelve week study on the Book of Acts in conjunction with NBC's televised miniseries, "A.D.", produced by Roma Downey and Mark Burnett. The miniseries runs on twelve consecutive Sundays from April5-June 21 and is a dramatization of the first ten chapters of Acts. We have secured a church kit from Outreach.com that includes audiovisual clips to be shown in worship, publicity materials and study guides for participants. I will preach a sermon series on The first ten chapters of Acts tying in with each week's episode on NBC. I will also teach a twelve part Bible study on Monday evenings in which we will dig more deeply into the portions of Acts portrayed in the miniseries and reflect on how the experiences of the first generation of christians parallels what the modern church is experiencing in the 21st century. We hope to attract folks from our community who will be watching the miniseries and want to learn more(we'll be publicizing the sermon series and Bible study on our website and in the local paper as well as by word of mouth) as well as members of our congregation. This is in partial fulfillment of our SCI prescription to develop an intentional plan of faith development for our members. We are really excited about this series and its potential for impact for Christ in our congregation and community.
