This is our flyer that went out to North Georgia Conference and specifically the Augusta District, but all are welcome to come! Especially our South Carolina friends across the river! We hope it will re-invigorate new and returning volunteers who are called to teach and lead.

9:15am – Opening Session: Flo Sapp Martin in the Fellowship Hall

Gearing Up For Fall – As we begin a new “season” of Christian Education what “pieces of equipment” do we need to make sure are ready for use? Flo will lead us as we look at the basics of why we do Sunday School/Christian Education, and what we are called to do in our teaching and leading. (Bring your Bibles!)

10am - Break-out Sessions:

Classroom 123: Facilitation Skills for Adult Leaders—What facilitation skills are necessary to promote adult learning? How can I engage the adults in my classroom/small group in interesting discussion? What are the best ways to handle facilitation challenges (i.e., people who talk too much; people who never talk; conflict within the classroom; etc.)? Join Kim Reindl as she offers leaders of adult groups ideas about how to create learning environments conducive to adult faith formation.

Fellowship Hall: Let’s GROW Together – Here’s an opportunity to have a hands-on experience as Flo leads the Children’s teachers with the new GROW, PROCLAIM, SERVE Children’s Curriculum. Flo will also have resources for Youth that teachers can explore more closely. And we’ll discuss special challenges with different age groups.

11:15am - Plenary Session: Kim Reindl in the Fellowship Hall

Staying Wesleyan—In an environment where classes, small groups, and programs for all ages are drawn to curriculum outside of our denomination, how are we to keep the United Methodist perspective alive? How are volunteer educators to know what is unique about our Methodist beliefs? Why does theology even matter? In this plenary session led by Kim Reindl, teachers and leaders of all age groups will have the opportunity to learn about some distinctive aspects of our United Methodist beliefs. Also, we will discuss how theology is always present when we learn about God, and therefore why it is important for us to think about the theology we are communicating.

12pm – Closing Prayer

We will serve breakfast snacks and coffee. Please reply to Nichole Kuehl, Program Director at St. John UMC, with numbers expected from your church so that we can best prepare for you, our guests. (But if you forget to RSVP, we still welcome you!!)
