Membership reDefined

At Spencer we have identified a new level of membership commitment. Each member and all people seeking membership now have the option of stepping up to "Vital Membership." To do this you must take the Membership reDefined curriculum (a 7-week intensive course on membership). At the end of the course you write out and share in worship your commitment with the church. We currently have 40 people enrolled in the class, and we have already had 20 people graduate. The goal is that by the end of the 2013 year we will have 100% of the congregation through and recommitted to Vital Membership in our church. 

This is showing fruit in several ways. We are seeing a large upswing in mission action in the church. We have developed a Care Ministry that has a baking team, a calling team, a card writing team, a card creating team, and a visitation team. Each of these teams has well over 10 people on them and we have quadrupled the amount of care we have been able to provide not only to our own people, but to the community as well. 

It is an exciting time to be here. While our worship attendance isn't what it could be, we have more people active in ministry than we have had for a long time.
