Our church has adopted several Lane College students under our watch care as they are here in Jackson during the school year. Pastor Karamoko inspired the Kitchen Ministry of the church to prepare a hot meal for these students, since most look forward to a hot, home-cooked meal. It gives our members time to fellowship with the students, get to know them and develop a closer bond. It also gives us a chance to share our testimony of faith and even to advise them on career choices and to guide them into using their talents and gifts for our Lord and Savior. The students eat for free and the adult members are charged a small fee or 2-3 dollars just to defray costs of the groceries. These students will return to St. Louis, Chicago, etc and so what they won't become permanent members of Wesley Chapel! If pot roast and potatoe salad can help bridge that gap between generations, then it is indeed a blessing to see these students mature and advance toward graduation and march on toward spiritual perfection.
