Shiloh Ranch, Myrna & Merle Craig Service Project, Food Bank Volunteering
The youth of Andover United Methodist have been incredibly active in serving and giving back to the community during the month of October. In mid-October, we took 12 kids to Shiloh Ranch Ministries located on Solomon, Kansas and they served in a variety of ways. They moved and stacked hay bales, planted trees, weatherproofed fences, cleaned water troughs, and completed many more tasks. The staff were incredibly thankful for how much they completed in a single day, and the youth appreciated the opportunity to serve on a working ranch with a ministry directed towards discipling kids toward Christ. A week later, the youth travelled to a member of our congregation’s house to help trim trees to prep the house be sold. They worked together for many hours and through their help, over 15 truckloads of limbs were moved! Again, they all loved coming together to help a member of our congregation. And as always, the youth regularly help out with the food bank in our church. They serve on average once per month during youth group - organizing food bags and stacking cans. Through all of these ways to serve, the youth are truly energized to give back in the name of Christ, and they look forward to more giving opportunities in the future.
