A Great Weekend for FUMC Colleyville

This Sunday (April 15) First United Methodist Church of Colleyville unveiled our praise service in our newly renovated Events Center.  We made use of dramatic visuals that are projected across the front of the entire worship area.  The praise  band was in excellent form.  Following advice gleaned from FUMC Burleson, we set up family tables around the outer perimeter with crayons and pictures for the children to color.  This was a huge hit with our younger families.  The sermon was entitled "God's New Thing" (Isa 43:18-21).  As part of the sermon, people were invited to share what "new" thing they needed from God in their lives.  They were also given an opportunity to find their place in God's new thing at FUMC Colleyville.  36 people committed to inviting a friend or neighbor not currently attending any church to our grand opening on May 6th.  72 people committed to pray for the new service and the building committee as they shift their attention to the renovation of our sanctuary, the purchase of a new organ, and the addition of a second traditional service during the 11:00 hour.  24 people committed to serving as ushers, communion stewards and staffing our hospitality tables.  Finally, 21 people asked for information on how they can contribute financially to "Growing into God's Vision" campaign (which funds our renovations).  Perhaps the greatest testimony as to how well things went was that twenty minutes after the 11:11 service ended, the Event Center was still full of people visiting and celebrating God's "New" Thing at FUMC Colleyville.

We also held our annual "Run for Rescue" on Saturday, April 14th.  This event raises money for the Child Rescue Center in Sierra Leone.  More than 60 volunteers and 400 runners participated.  While the final totals are not in, we believe we raised more than $10,000 for the CRC.
