Relay for Life

Covington First United Methodist Church, Covington, Ga. Relay for Life Team raised $14,000 towards the fight against cancer for Relay 2012.  Over the course of 4 months we had Sunday unches land Wednesday Night Suppers dedicated to Relay.  Our first Sunday announcing our team we asked if you are a cancer survivor, are fighting cancer or have/had a family member or friend with cancer please stand up.  Every member of our church stood up.  That is why we had a team. We were dedicated to supporting our our church family and the community is this fight.  The night of Relay God was present as we can out as a church and joined thousands of people in our community and walked the team lap, cheered on and walked with friends in the  survivor lap, and cried together as we walked as thousands of lumanaries were lite in memory of loved ones.  The night was filled with fellowship.  And as the sun rose as a symbol of Hope the next morning we walked that final lap and cheered on our team as we received 3rd place out of 64 teams in fundraising.  It was a great event!!!!
