FUMC RISING STAR HOSTS BREAKFAST FOR RISING STAR HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATING SENIORS

Wednesday, May 14th, the congregation hotsted a breakfast to honor Rising Star High School graduating seniors.  Church members showed their enthusiasm in this outreach opportunity by decorating the church's fellowship hall and providing food for the breakfast.  Church members began arriving at 6:30 a.m. to ensure they would be present to welcome their guests.  The graduating students and their two class sponsors arrived at 7:30 a.m. and enjoyed breakfast along with a time of fellowship and conversation.  The pastor gave a brief devotional and with the assistance of church members presented bibles to each of the students.  The bibles were personalized with their names on the cover along with a message of blessing on the inside.

Members of the congregation interacted with the youth, enjoyed serving them and delighted in the joy the youth displayed in the breakfast and receipt of the bibles. During clean-up afterwards members took extreme care in preserving decorations for use for next year's breakfast as well as discussed plans for the future event.

The congregation of FUMC Rising Star is older in years and has only two youth that attend the church; neither of them are in the graduating class.  So to see members of the congregation excited and actively engaged in a ministry for/with the youth of the community revealed the presence of God in their lives as individuals and as a church body.  It was a joy to behold!
