Cleanliness Is Godliness

As I approached my first week at Olive Crest UMC, I found my office to the most daunting task of all. Cluttered furniture, stacked paperwork, shelves of old books, and the lack of any deep cleaning all appeared to be a good metaphor a new pastors first week. Quickly I began to clean, sort, and draw plans. It wasn't the fact that the Trustees had been very helpful in supporting my adventure with funding for new paint, carpet, and furniture, but it was the people who volunteered their time to assist in the project that made God's presence known in my first week. Helpful hands are often available upon request, and working side by side is a great way to meet people, learn their stories, and improve the quality of the church environment.
