Tenth Street UMC participated in Taylor's annual Christmas Parade of Lights on Saturday evening, December 6th. Our float was a 1959 Studebaker truck decorated with lights and a christmas tree and owned by church members David and Shaleen Scott. Pastor Travis summerlin rode on the truck dressed as the fourth century bishop, Saint Nicholas, the basis for the legend of Santa Claus. Tenth Street won Second Place in the religious floats category. Church member Ed Komandosky was the traditional Santa Claus and served as grand marshall of the parade, riding at the end of the column in his sleigh. After the parade Santa set up shop in Taylor's Heritage Square to hear the children's Christmas requests. Santa Claus and Saint Nicholas both mingled with the crowd and were available for pictures.
