One of the volunteers from the community who faithfully helps manage (for the food giveaway) the heavier items for set-up and distribution was noted to have on tennis shoes that were worn through.  The volunteer asked for duct tape to hold the tennis shoes together.  The member who assisted the volunteer brought the need to Church Council.  The Benevolent fund was also discussed at that meeting.  The pastor stated this is the type of need the fund can assist.  Well praise God, a week or so after the meeting, the member was able to take the volunteer to purchase a new pair of tennis shoes.  The member was surprised that the volunteer chose the same "flimsy type" of tennis shoe and would not accept a better made pair.  The volunteer also refused to accept socks to go with the shoes.  Nonetheless, we are grateful to assist this volunteer who is a great support in helping to serve the community.
