Commitment Sunday

November 18th was Commitment Sunday.   The sermon text was 2 Corinthians 3:1-6 where Paul tells the Corinthians that "You yourselves are our letters of recommendations."    The congregation was challenged to reflect on what kind of letter they are to the world (a love letter, a letter of thanks, a 'dear John' letter, a poison pen letter, a letter that recomends Christ?).    People were invited to bring symbols of gifts/themselves  that they  were commiting to God in 2013, along with their pledge cards.   People brought minature tool kits, brooms, sponges, musical symbols, prayer journals, notebooks and apples, cars, food, cards,etc .  The symbols will be hung as decorations on a tree during Advent/Christmas.
