Being the Body of Christ

First United Methodist of Sonora has been engaged in beith the Body of Christ in a very real way during the month of January. Several members of our congregation and extended faith community have been ill and hospitalized this month. While the solo pastor has been engaged in ministry with those experiencing immediate spiritual and emotional discomfort, members of the congregation have filled in the gaps with the chronic, home-bound, and other visitation needs. Members have prepared and delivered meals, cleaned houses, driven members to appointments, and been present as needed.

One member, who shall remain nameless, drove her neighbor 70 miles one-way to the hospital as they followed the ambulance carrying her husband to ICU with a major heart condition. This member spent the rest of the day in her pajamas, not taking the time to change clothes before jumping in the car to be the hands and feet of Christ.

Truly, in the midst of a very difficult two weeks, this congregation exhibited their faith.
