Ebenezer UMC is a tiny UMC in Louisa, Virginia. We have a few (2-5) children on any given Sunday. They have been collecting change (and soft money as one child called the dollar bills) in baby bottles during the collection of regular offerings. This has been done for years and has amounted to several thousand dollars. They have funded 6 cleft palate surgeries through Smile Train; many school lunches for children in Haiti (after a member mission trip to Haiti); local missions like the Santa Fund that supplies needs in the local schools such as clothing, glasses, etc.; prison ministry; Heifer Project; Virginia Methodist Youth at each annual conference; NJ School Children after the shooting; Heart Havens and more!
Truly I see God each week as these little children bow their heads and pray with the pastor at Children's Church and then collect this money that does so much good. Also all of the congregation from the oldest down, fully supports the mission and waits patiently for the money to be collected and bring extra change (and soft money) so that they can put some in the bottle of each child!
