On May 5th, we challenged the congregation of our 11:11 AM Worship without Walls service to what we call: Takin iT2 the Streets. This was our first of two events planned to take place in May. After a prayer and sharing of instructions most of those in attendance grabbed a case or more of bottled water and went walking door to door in the neighbor hoods to our east. We visited 500 neighbors and gave them a free bottle of God's living water.  We came back from this life changing outreach to commit to making a difference in our neighborhood. The Western Ave Area of South Bend has been plagued by a lot of different things. And we decided it was time to start working to change that.

On Memorial Day May 27th, we will be doing our 3rd Takin iT2 the Streets outreach event, we will be a part of the Westside Memorial Day parade. As we walk the parade, rain or shine, we are handing out 1000 bottles of water with 90% of them labeled in Spanish to reach out to our new brothers and sisters in Christ.  Monson used to be an all-white old fashioned church (let that mean to you whatever it may mean to you) and as such we pretty much thought we should sit in the pews on Sunday and wait for the people to come.

Today we are different colors and ethnicity, with all ages, we don't have pews, But we do have movable blue comfortable chairs, we only sit in rows when we have to , and the rest of the time we worship together and gather around 60 inch round tables and we talk about what we can do to make a difference. I will confess that some don't like it. I will also confess it has been a long and sometimes difficult journey to change, But that The Spirit of Pentecost has been on this church for a long time.  Great things are yet to come, and we are doing everything we can to embrace the Holy Spirit and to no longer put God into a box.

Because of these we are trying to start our third Sunday or Saturday Service that is designed to reach our Hispanic brothers and sister. We will let you know how that goes as that is the call we hear and see and feel when we walk our neighbor hood. We thank God for all of our blessings and the fact that we can get out of the way and let His Will be ours.
