Back to School Blessings

Before the end of the school year, Braceville UMC contacted the local elementary school, offering to assist in the purchase of school supplies for the start of the 2013-2014 school year. Parents were given the opportunity to sign up, so the missions committee could determine how many supplies to purchase. The congregation was invited and encouraged to donate designated supplies or to donate money to be used by the mission committee to purchase the remainder of supplies.

The mission committee determined what needed to be purchased and youth from the church filled the backpacks with the supplies. We also asked for new or gently read elementary level books to give to the children. This has truly been a churchwide project.

 In our first year for this mission, we have 35 backpacks imprinted with the school logo, filled with ALL of the supplies from the teachers' lists!

By the grace of God, we anticipate assisting more children next year.
