On 9/11/13, Chester United Methodist Church remembered 9-11-01, with prayerful considerations for all those affected by acts that tragic day. Further, on that infamous date (today, 12 years later) the case regarding embezzlement charges regarding our church finances was opened at the Circuit Court of Chesterfield County, Virginia.
In addition, on this same day, our Finance Committee was meeting for the expressed purpose of pulling together the proposed budget, which is very sacred work.
The church held a 12-hour prayer vigil that day, with as few as one (1) and as many as eight (8) at one time praying at one time. Over 100 people participated in the church sanctuary. Some participated at home, with ongoing prayers. These prayers underpin our church family as we continue to deal with grief, anger, grace and love in these days.
