We have had a Fall Festival for quite some years, however, this year the Christian Education Team decided to revamp and 'amp it up'. It was set for 1 week prior to Halloween, on a Wednesday evening (cancelling all other children and youth activities at our church), as a 2 hour event, with postcards and door hangers, and posters in our immediate neighborhood... a success beyond our dreams waas created!
God worked in splendid ways that we had only dreamed of! Within the first thirty minutes we were out of enough food to feed 64 (which is about 5 times more than what we have needed in recent years). The carnival games had a constant slew of children and youth trying their hand for a treat or candy. The jumper we rented from a local church was loved by all, ages 14 months - 30 years old! Not to mention the family-friendly costume contest had 32 entrants ranging from just 9 weeks old to 30 years old. Our best head-count was 75 adults and children overflowing our outdoor lawn - and not just our congregation but neighborhood kids on bikes, walking, stopping as they were driving home, and the such. Not to mention, a local news photographer popped by with her child, snapped a few photos and published it in the local newspaper the next day! We praise the Lord and our congregation for all of their support in this community outreach adventure.
Then, we ended the week with our annual Bible Presentation Sunday for Kindergarten, 3rd grade, and now Confirmation(8th grade). We had 15 Bibles on hand, each hand-addressed for children and youth that are regular attendees to our church activities. In year two, the 4-layer wrapped Bible presentation was an absolute hit! What a joy to bring the Word of God to His children and youth in an engaging manner!
Praise the Lord for his continued presence in our congregation and outreach to the children and youth that He has entrusted us with.
