A weekend of rain and dropping temperatures did not stop 58 dedicated voulnteers (including 17 youth and 9 children) from painting the large receiving/sorting room, preparing personal health kits, organizing and disbursing clothing donations, pressure-washig a house for a very special one year old, preparing seeds for distribution through the Good Earth program, and initiating work on a new pavilion at the Morgan Scott Project for Cooperative Christian Concerns (located in Morgan County TN and started in 1971 by United Methodists, Presbyterians, and others). The volunteers were from or friends of the four sister churches of the Morgan Scott Roane Parish UMC (comprised of the only two UMC churches in Morgan County TN - Oakdale UMC and Sunbright UMC - and the closest UMC churches in Scott and Roane Counties - Rugby Road UMC and Woods Chapel UMC). This was the fist ever mission retreat for the Parish. The closing worship service for the Mission Retreat weekend was held at Ruby Road UMC on Sunday, March 30,2014. This was also a Fifth Sunday wvivhen the four churches of the Parish worship together. 114 (including 23 children and 17 youth) atttended. For many of the long-term members of Rugby Road UMC, this was the largest worship attendance they had ever witnessed at the church.
