Great Day of Joining

Last Sunday was our Confirmation Sunday with 5 young people professing their faith in Christ and joining the church.  Two of the students had a parent who would be joining with them as well.  As the pastor I thought it would be a great day to encourage people who regularly attend here to place their membership here as well.  I hand wrote each of them a note inviting them to join this past Sunday.  We welcomed 11 new members plus our 5 Confirmands.  There were two others who couldn't be here Sunday but will join next week.  What a joy it was to welcome 16 new members to our church with 7 of them by profession of faith.  Many people commented on the handwritten invitation from the pastor as why they decided to join.  I think the personal touch made a big difference.
